Premier Li Keqiang said yesterday that China is willing to participate in Mozambique’s infrastructure development and the operation of roads, ports and natural gas pipelines.

“China hopes to link the Belt and Road Initiative with Mozambique’s development strategy,” Li said when meeting with his Mozambican counterpart Carlos Agostinho do Rosario in Macau yesterday.

Li called on both countries to take advantage of their profound friendship, mutual political trust and economic complementarity to upgrade their practical co-operation.

“The Chinese government supports domestic businesses to invest in Mozambique in line with market rules and commercial principles in order to help translate Mozambique’s resource advantages into development advantages and lay a solid foundation for self-development and sustainable development,” Li said.

Agostinho do Rosario thanked China for helping his country to achieve self-development, expressing a desire to enhance co-operation with China in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism and human resources training.
