The University of Macau (UM) launched its two-day “UM Career and Internship Fair 2023” yesterday, where over 3,000 job vacancies are on offer from 110 participating companies and organisations, the public university said in a statement.
According to the statement, the annual event helps graduating students seek job opportunities and assist both second-year and third-year students in finding summer internships. The fair offers vacancies in fields such as information technology (IT), cultural and creative technology, as well as in the hotel and tourism sectors for students and alumni from different professional backgrounds.
The statement noted that UM has also organised a series of career guidance activities such as recruitment talks, ‘Mastering Your Job Interviews’ Workshop, ‘Resume Clinic’, and mock interview sessions.
The statement quoted UM Vice Rector Mok Kai Meng as saying that he’s encouraging students to “seize every opportunity, explore their career paths, continue to uphold UM’s motto [of] ‘humanity, integrity, propriety, wisdom, and sincerity’, and reach for their goals and dreams step by step”.
Meanwhile, the statement underlined that according to UM’s Further Studies and Employment Survey for the 2021/2022 academic year, among those who graduated in that academic year, over 80 percent landed a job or pursued further education within three months after graduation.
The statement said that among those who have been employed, 60 percent received an offer before graduation.
According to the statement, their median monthly income is 15,000 patacas, and the top five industries where graduates found work were education (25.3 percent), banking/finance (14.2 percent), trade/wholesale/retail (8.3 percent), engineering (6.5 percent), and hotels (5.4 percent).
