A mainlander has been arrested for slapping a waitress’s buttocks, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspect, surnamed Kang, is a 45-year-old man with a two-way travel permit. He told the police he’s jobless.

According to Leong, the local victim told the police on Thursday at 4 a.m. that earlier in the night a man had slapped her buttocks when she was working in a bar of a Cotai hotel.

Police officers scrutinised their citywide CCTV camera system and identified Kang as the suspect, after which they arrested him in a Cotai hotel at 7:30 a.m.

Under questioning, Kang admitted that he had been drinking at the bar and slapped the victim’s buttocks before leaving.

Kang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces a charge of sexual harassment.

This undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows the sexual harassment suspect being escorted by PSP officers to a police station.
