Gaming resort operator Sands China announced in a statement on Wednesday the deepening of its “comprehensive strategic partnership” with Star CM Holdings Limited from this year onwards.

The statement noted that the two companies will take their long-term partnership to a new level with the aim of “creating more diverse tourism projects” and supporting the city into becoming a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, all the while maximising their respective advantages.

The statement added that the move echoes the government’s “1+4” appropriate diversification development strategy, “tourism+” cross-sector integration initiative, and the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin’s development.

Sands China, the statement said, has a range of world-class entertainment experiences and the most entertainment venues in the city. Along with its diverse accommodation, dining, convention and exhibition, and shopping options, the company creates an “all-encompassing, one-stop destination for tourists and event-goers”.

Meanwhile, Star CM Holdings Limited is the largest IP creator and operator of variety shows in the mainland. It has maintained a partnership with Sands China since 2012 and both companies have collaborated on over 20 projects, including Asia’s top music award event “China Music Awards”. They both brought the street dance competition reality TV show “Street Dance of China” to The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena in 2022.

The companies will cooperate on a range of projects this year, which the statement said includes “China Music Awards 2023” and “Sing! China Macao Concert 2023”, as well as live interactive performance and experience shows that combine classic IP elements.

The statement added that both companies will work together to upgrade their strategic partnership in five areas.

These areas are: Large-scale innovative entertainment projects that combine live performances, television, and online channels; Live interactive performance experience shows that combine classic IP elements; Product placement or other modes of cooperation in Star CM Holdings Limited’s classic IP movies; Comprehensive cooperation in Star CM Holdings Limited’s large-scale variety shows; Cooperation in Star CM Holdings Limited’s projects themed to classic IP scenes.

The statement said that both companies will continue to deepen cooperation and create more entertainment projects together.
