The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has hosted the visit of the Hong Kong Japanese Tour Operators Association and the Society of the Golden Keys of Hong Kong to Macau for familiarisation visits, altogether comprising around 70 members, MGTO said in a statement yesterday.

The statement underlined that MGTO aims to garner the associations’ support to draw Japanese and international visitors for “twin-destination travel to Hong Kong and Macau”, which will diversify source markets.

The Hong Kong Japanese Tour Operators Association members, the statement noted, mainly cater to Japanese visitors through coordinating trip logistics such as transportation and sightseeing in mainland cities, Hong Kong and Macau. A familiarisation trip was organised for them on March 22-23.

The trip was arranged to enable them to learn more about Macau’s latest tourism facilities for better Hong Kong-Macau trip planning and arrangements for Japanese visitors in the future, according to the statement. MGTO also presented an overview of the current local tourism situation to the association’s representatives during a luncheon.

Meanwhile, the Society of the Golden Keys of Hong Kong was in Macau on Tuesday and Wednesday and mainly comprises concierge professionals that look after travellers at luxury and business hotels in Hong Kong, the statement said.

They were invited to get updates on the city’s latest tourism information and products for future recommendations to international visitors in Hong Kong. Their representatives also attended a networking dinner with Macau International Golden Keys Society members

The statement added that the two delegations were divided into groups and visited several attractions such as the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Macau, Macau Grand Prix Museum and the city’s integrated casino-hotel resorts.

The statement noted that MGTO is moving forward with an “all-rounded online-offline marketing campaign” in different source markets through the gradual launch of special offers aimed at specific market segments.
