The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Public Security Police (PSP) and Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 1:50 p.m. yesterday that a male corpse was found lying on a beach near a hotel in Coloane by a worker who was repairing a boat nearby earlier that day, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said in a statement.
Upon examination of the body, according to the statement, the corpse was a Chinese male in his thirties, about 1.75 metres tall, with slight scratches on his insteps.
No suspicious or criminally induced injuries were found on the corpse, the statement noted, which added that the cause of death still needed to be confirmed by forensic examination.
The statement said that no identification documents nor suicide notes were found on the body.
The case has been classified as a dead body found, according to the statement.
