A 32-year-old local man was arrested on Wednesday for drunk-riding, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said during a regular press conference on Friday.

Leong said that at about 7:10 p.m. on March 29, the Public Security Police received a report that a traffic accident occurred in Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga, adding that PSP officers arriving at the scene found the suspect surnamed Lam reeking of alcohol.

A breathalyser test showed that Lam’s alcohol concentration was 1.96 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.

Under questioning, Lam admitted that he had drunk alcohol at home earlier that day, and then rode a motorcycle to go and have dinner with friends. Lam also acknowledged that “his motorcycle suddenly lost control” and crashed into a private car in front of him when he was getting ready to go at a traffic light on Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga.

Lam, who told the police that he works as a chef, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-riding charge.
