Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said in a statement yesterday that a 59-year-old man from the mainland was confirmed dead after “falling” from the third floor of a casino in Zape.

Lou did not name the casino.

According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were informed by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 8:30 a.m. yesterday that a man was suspected to have fallen from a height onto Avenida de Lopo Sarmento de Carvalho.

The man was rushed to the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre for emergency treatment and was later confirmed dead.

Judiciary Police officers investigating the scene noted the LED rope lights hanging around the third-floor corridor’s balustrade had been pulled apart, creating enough space for a person to pass through.

PJ officers suspect that the victim climbed over the balustrade, pulled apart the LED rope lights and then leapt to his death, according to the statement.

After a preliminary examination of the body, no suspicious or criminal injuries were found on the deceased. The injuries were caused by falling from a height.

The case has preliminarily been classified as a dead-body-found case, awaiting the results of a forensic examination.
