Wynn Resorts said in a recent statement that as an official venue partner in Macau, the company recently co-hosted the first in a series of “Seeking Mountain and Sea to Rediscover the Flavours of China” events in cooperation with the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide and in partnership with Hennessy, which is one of the “big four” cognac houses and has been the world’s leading exporter of brandy since 1840.
Launched in 2018 by Meituan, the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide aims to create a comprehensive and authoritative list of outstanding restaurants for Chinese diners, the statement noted.
According to Wikipedia, Meituan (美團 literally “beautiful group”), formerly Meituan-Dianping, is a Chinese shopping platform for locally found consumer products and retail services comprising entertainment, dining, delivery, travel and other services.
According to the statement, the events, which are set to take place all across China, bring together China’s best chefs from the “Black Pearl Chef Club”.
The statement added that two award-winning chefs of the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide –Tam Kwok Fung, who is the executive chef of Wing Lei Palace in Macau and recipient of the “2023 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide Chef of the Year” award, joined hands with Xu Jingye, chef of 102 House Shanghai, who received the “2023 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide Young Chef” honour, in presenting “four-hand collaborative galas” for the launch event dinners in Shanghai and at Wynn Palace in Cotai on April 6 and 10 respectively.
The statement also noted that a “Culinary Discussion Forum” was held during the first stop of the “Seeking Mountain and Sea to Rediscover the Flavours of China” events, where an opportunity was provided to network with celebrity chefs and culinary professionals, together discovering the terroir of cognac, food memories and the remarkable harmony between Chinese cuisine and French cognac.
The statement quoted Kristoffer Luczak, executive vice-president of Food & Beverage for Wynn Macau Limited, as saying that as an official venue partner in collaboration with the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, Wynn was honoured to be the first destination to host the ‘Seeking Mountain and Sea to Rediscover the Flavours of China’ event, adding: “This is an important culinary platform to highlight the vitality of Macau’s food and beverage industry, and to further build on the sustainable development of Macau as a ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’.”
