The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) General Office of the Macau Garrison announced yesterday that its barracks in Taipa will open to the public on April 30 and May 1, with the national flag raising ceremony taking place at 10 a.m. on both days.

According to the announcement, the open days, which run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the two days, aim to enhance communication between the local garrison and residents.

The two open days will also feature displays of military training, equipment, uniforms and food, as well as camp tour, and cultural and art performances.

The announcement, which was issued in the form of a written statement, noted that the 1,200 tickets for each of the two days will be distributed from 9 a.m. this Saturday at its barracks in Zape and Taipa.

Local residents can receive up to three tickets by showing their Macau resident ID card, the announcement underlined, which added that each ticket should be filled in with the holder’s valid personal information.

Residents will only be allowed to enter the barracks with their admission tickets and ID cards, the statement noted.

The statement also underlined that all visitors should follow the precautions indicated on their tickets.  After security checks, the statement said, they should go to the area designated by the garrison for visits and activities.

As the national flag raising ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the two days, visitors should take their seat 10 minutes before the ceremony starts, the statement stressed.
