“Experience Macao Unlimited – Macao Promotion in Lisbon” was unveiled by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) on Wednesday, with the event representing the first destination promotion activity in Europe to showcase Macau’s new travel experiences, MGTO said in a statement yesterday.
The open-air event in the Portuguese capital ends tomorrow.
The opening ceremony was attended by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and his wife Cheng Soo Ching, as well as China’s Ambassador to Portugal Zhao Bentang, the statement noted. Ho visited the booths prior to the opening.
Representatives and officials of various local and Portuguese government entities, as well as representatives of Macau’s six gaming concessionaires were also at the event, according to the statement.
The statement said that the event’s major highlight is “Experience Macao Unlimited – Macao Exhibition in Lisbon”, where the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the six gaming concessionaires-cum-integrated-resort (IR) operators are collaborating with MGTO in various non-gaming themed zones/booths and installations for destination branding.
Moreover, MGTO’s “Macao Tourism Booth” presents Macau’s travel attractions and features a MAK MAK Instagram (IG) photo booth and culinary delights, among others. Booth visitors can also get temporary “tattoos” of Macao/MAK MAK images, and follow MGTO on social media for the chance of winning a gift.
The “Light Up Macao: Macao Tourism Video Mapping Show” was also recently unveiled by MGTO in Lisbon, which proved popular, the statement said. Featuring four chapters, images are projected onto the façades of Praça do Comércio’s major edifices, for around 12 minutes per session.
Travel trade delegates are also in Lisbon for a familiarisation visit, the statement pointed out.
By organising the roadshow, the statement said, MGTO “strives to enhance exchanges and cooperation between Macau and Portugal in tourism, economy and trade, culture and other areas”.
