The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held its online and offline “Information Day” on Saturday, which showcased MPU’s “characteristics” and provided programme information and the tertiary education institution’s latest research results, according to a statement from the public university yesterday.

The statement noted that the event featured, among others, programme and consultation booths, sharing sessions, information technology innovation experiences, nursing procedures and demonstrations, and student work exhibitions.

There were also performances by students from Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).

The statement added that the event enabled secondary students to explore MPU’s major subject areas and experience being a university student for a day.

According to the statement, MPU Rector Im Sio Kei said during a speech that through cooperating with world-renowned universities and local and overseas professional institutions, MPU has created “an internationally interconnected cross-border learning and exchange platform for students, promotes international cooperation in industry, education, and research, and helps in Macau’s appropriately diversified economic development”.

He added that in the academic year 2023/2024, MPU will continue to cooperate with the government’s “Second Five-Year Plan” and launch new courses in big health, modern finance, high tech, exhibitions and trade, as well as culture and sports, to meet the needs of emerging industries for talents.

The university has various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes open for application. The degree programmes mainly cover information technology (IT), languages and translation, and public administration and services, among others.
