The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that it is moving forward with its online-offline destination promotion activities overseas to reach international markets.

The statement noted that with the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) having recorded a “remarkable rise in passenger traffic” after border restrictions began to be gradually lifted early this year, it is once again a “major strategic location” for Macau to promote multi-destination travel to overseas visitors.

MGTO’s “Experience Macao, Unlimited” advertisements are being shown on 39 digital screens in different areas of the airport, and estimated to reach over 10 million overseas visitors arriving to Hong Kong and over a million Hong Kong residents.

In South Korea, MGTO has commissioned its market representative to place outdoor digital advertisements at the COEX Millennium Plaza shopping mall in Seoul. The statement said that the message “SEE YOU IN MACAO” is being played on nine LED screens and one giant digital screen until June 18

The foot traffic in the vicinity of the mall amounts to eight million per month, the statement added, noting that the ads can reach a wide range of international visitors, family visitors and the local population aged between 20 and 40.

Meanwhile, over 330 travel trade and media delegates, as well as key opinion leaders (KOLs) from the mainland, Hong Kong, Thailand and South Korea have been invited to Macau since the beginning of this year.

MGTO has also recently invited Singaporean KOL Keith Yuen and his film crew to Macau and Hengqin, after which posts were placed on his social media platforms about the latest travel tips and to promote twin-destination travel in Singapore and Southeast Asia visitor markets, according to the statement.

The statement added that MGTO invited popular KOLs from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand to film short travel videos in Macau, introducing the latest attractions to young travellers and sharing special offers on air tickets to Macau and Hong Kong transport. They also shot promotional videos for MGTO’s social media platforms.

The statement said that MGTO will arrange for around 60 more travel trade and media delegates from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand to visit Macau next month.
