The “2023 Let’s Hang Out-Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” was held at Albergue SCM on April 28-30 during the Labour Day holiday, attracting over 10,000 visitors, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) said in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, the three-day event, which was held for the eighth time since it was launched in 2018, drew visitors to the São Lázaro heritage precinct, where a raft of activities including exhibitions and sales, performances, and workshops were held.
The statement pointed out that together with the last two editions that were held in Hengqin, the event has so far drawn over 45,000 participants. The bazaar will also to be held in different parts of Macau and other cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to boost consumption and promote the specialties of Macau from Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).
Moreover, IPIM also promotes Macau’s role as a China-PSCs platform through other channels besides bazaars, the statement said, adding that two business matching sessions were organised by the institute from January to April for PSCs’ wine promotions as well as a buyers’ session at “large professional fairs” in the mainland. These resulted in over 250 business meetups, the statement said, and aimed to help products from PSCs to expand into the mainland market.
IPIM also promoted products from the PSCs and the advantages of Macau’s role as a China-PSCs platform through live events. Three such events were organised so far this year, which were watched by over 70,000 people, according to the statement.
Albergue is Portuguese for “hospice”. SCM stands for Santa Casa da Misericórdia (“Holy House of Mercy”), Macau’s oldest charitable organisation.
