The Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) has been authorised by Shenzhen-based tech company Huawei to be its first training centre in Macau, according to CPTTM Director General Victória Alexa Kuan Chan (關治平), who said yesterday that the centre will continue to offer more courses covering the fields of network security and artificial intelligence (AI), so as to promote the integration of the information technology (IT) industry in Macau with the rest of world.

Kuan made the remarks in a speech during a plaque-unveiling ceremony for the centre’s opening, at the BEYOND Expo 2023 at The Venetian Convention and Exhibition Centre in Cotai.

According to Kuan, the centre inked its cooperation framework agreement with the company in December last year.

Huawei Macau General Manager Jackie Li Yingjie said during the ceremony he believed that the training centre could promote the training and employment of talents in Macau, while also facilitating the upgrading of the IT industry.

According to Li, the company has been cooperating with CPTTM since 2021 in co-organising a number of Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCTA) diversity training courses, as well as the annual Huawei ICT Competition.

ICT stands for information and communication technologies.

CTM expands cloud resources capacity

Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon Huawei Macau joined hands with local telecom operator CTM to co-host a forum entitled “Cloud Network Convergence – Building City Cloud Foundation, Cultivating Industrial Digitalisation” at the three-day expo, where CTM also launched its upgraded cloud service that is powered on the basis of expanding the capacity of cloud resources, integrated with other cloud products such as Huawei Cloud GaussDB, KooMap, and KooMessage.

CTM and Huawei signed a cloud strategic collaboration agreement in 2021, according to Ebel Cham Pou I, the vice president for the telecom’s commercial affairs, who said in a speech at the forum that her company will continue to expand the application of cloud services, and strive to bring more cloud services and smart application solutions to all sectors of Macau, especially small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), aiming to accelerate the pace of digital transformation.

CTM Cloud is a localised cloud service platform based on Huawei Cloud Stack.
