The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 7:38 a.m. yesterday that a man had committed suicide by hanging himself at a sitting-out area in Travessa da Gruta, according to a statement by PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon.
The statement said that the victim, aged 83, is a local resident.
A preliminary examination of the body showed that the strangulation marks on the victim’s neck were caused by a white nylon rope, which he used to hang himself from a tree, according to the statement, which noted that no suspicious or criminally induced injuries were found on the corpse, but the exact cause of death still needed to be determined by a forensic examination.
The case was listed as dead body found, the statement said.
