Various government departments and civil society organisations have prepared a series of activities to celebrate International Children’s Day, which falls on June 1, aiming to arouse public awareness of the rights and welfare of children, and also to allow the public enjoy the festive atmosphere and celebrate the special day, according to a Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) statement yesterday.
The organising committee – which comprises various public sectors – will take about 300 primary school students to visit the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) garrison’s barracks in Taipa, as well as the Military Exhibition Hall of the PLA Garrison in Macau next Saturday, May 27, during which there will be explanations and interactions with the soldiers, so as to deepen their understanding of the PLA’s work in Macau and the students’ patriotic feelings.
In addition, various local community organisations and associations will organise four garden parties, a treasure hunt, display boards and online games to raise public awareness of children’s rights.
