The open call for programme and performance venue proposals for the 22nd Macao City Fringe Festival, which is slated for January next year, is open until June 23, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday.
The statement noted that local artistic and cultural associations, curators, producers, independent artists, higher education students and those interested in artistic creation can submit proposals, adding that proposals for all forms of performing arts and artistic activities are accepted.
Those responsible for local venues can also submit performance venue proposals to provide exhibition or performances spaces.
Applications from non-profit art and cultural associations registered at the Macau Identification Services Bureau (DSI) or valid Macau ID holders aged over 18 are accepted in the open call, which includes three programme categories.
The statement said that the “Programme Showcase” can be an independent programme or a series of programmes and related outreach performances or activities. The budget for the production of each chosen programme ranges from 70,000 patacas to 130,000 patacas.
The “New Spark of Programme Showcase” is aimed at local students from higher education institutions. The maximum budget for the selected programmes’ production is 20,000 patacas, with selected groups receiving technical advice and equipment support, according to the statement.
The statement noted that for the “Crème de la Fringe” Curatorial Project, a “mini-festival” integrated into the upcoming edition of the festival, includes no less than three performances and two outreach activities. The maximum budget for the entire project is 500,000 patacas.
This year’s festival will also have industry professionals and art critics from other regions attend the performances, the statement said.
