Chief prosecutor calls for study on punishing DUI

Public Prosecutor-General Ip Son Sang yesterday called for a study about possible changes to the criminal punishment of those driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs

Ip made the comments yesterday when delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of the Judicial Year 2016/17, at the Macau Cultural Centre in Nape.

Ip pointed out that the number of cases, launched by the Public Prosecution Office (MP), concerning traffic accidents decreased by 11 percent to 1,277 cases during the outgoing Judicial Year 2015/16, compared to the Judicial Year 2014/15.
