The Sports Bureau’s (ID) Sports Development Department Chief Chao Kuok Wai announced yesterday during a press conference at the bureau in Zape that its annual “Sports Festival for All” will take place this coming weekend in Praça do Tap Seac.

According to Chao, the event, which aims to raise public interest in participating in sport and to enhance locals’ physical fitness, consists of four themed areas – a large inflatable props area, a recreation and sport area, and  parent-child obstacle experience area, as well as a leisure and culinary area, enabling more children and youngsters to take part in sport and physical activity in their spare time.

The event, which was first launched in 2020, also aims to cultivate children’s interest and habit of lifelong sporting activities.

Chao underlined that the bureau will pay close attention to sanitation in the square, where the facilities will be cleaned and disinfected in a timely manner, adding that residents participating in the event can decide whether to wear a facemask or not according to their own circumstances.

Chao noted that the event can accommodate up to 400 participants at the site each hour, and that he expected the number of participants this year to be similar to last year’s 6,000.
