Applications for the 2023 Beijing Palace Museum Internship Programme are now open until next Wednesday, with 16 vacancies available for Macau permanent residents aged between 18 and 30, according to a Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) statement on Monday.
The internship programme, jointly organised by the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong and the Guangdong Youth Federation (GDYF), will run from 14 July to 26 August. It will cover the costs of air tickets, local transport and accommodation, insurance and other complementary activities during the internship, the statement said.
The statement noted that the positions available cover 14 types of museum work, and there will be a maximum total of 48 applicants chosen from Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong this year.
The programme will include a group training camp in Guangzhou, an internship at the Beijing Palace Museum and a cultural tour of Beijing, the statement said.
According to the statement, eligible applicants who are currently enrolled in a full-time programme at a tertiary institution holding a bachelor’s degree or above in a related field are eligible to apply for the programme, such as heritage and museology, heritage conservation and restoration, cultural heritage management, archaeology, architecture, film and television production, journalism, advertising, art design, history, Chinese literature, foreign languages, translation, documentary studies, archives, administration, management, economics, and information technology.
The Beijing Palace Museum is the world’s largest and best-preserved wooden palace complex, with a collection of over 1.86 million pieces of ancient paintings and calligraphy, ancient artefacts, court relics and book archives, making it the most visited museum in the world, the statement noted.
