Macau’s Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) hoisted the No.3 Strong Wind Signal at 11 p.m. yesterday. The bureau will consider hoisting a higher signal today, according to the SMG website.

The present signal might be replaced by the No. 8 signal “owning to the situation” this morning, the website said.

The No. 3 signal was hoisted as Severe Typhoon Haima was 430 kilometres south-east of Macau at 11 p.m. The storm was heading north-west at about 25 kilometres per hour, moving towards the eastern coast of Guangdong province, according to the bureau.
