Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) said in a statement earlier this week that an inauguration ceremony was held for the “Integrated Resort Youth Development Programme” at the Banyan Tree in Galaxy Macau.
The programme was jointly launched by GEG and the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), according to the statement, and provides comprehensive training and career development opportunities for residents wishing to develop their careers in the integrated resort sector. It has been well-received since its inception, the statement noted, adding that its training quota has been increased to over 50.
During a speech, DSAL Director Wong Chi Hong was quoted in the statement as saying that the bureau is “greatly encouraged by the keen participation in the programme and the fact that the number of admissions are beyond our expectations. We hope the programme can provide participants with professional knowledge, skills, and valuable work experience.”
GEG Human Resources and Administration Group Director Eileen Lui Wai Ling was also quoted in the statement as saying: “GEG pledges to support Macau’s development and constantly allocates resources to provide local residents with various employment opportunities, and spares no effort in cultivating Macau’s future leaders, in the hopes of enhancing the city’s talent reserve and quality of industry experts”.
The programme was curated by GEG for six months, the statement said, and identified residents interested in advancing their careers in food and beverage, housekeeping and VIP hospitality through two job fairs and external promotional activities.
The statement noted that participants are given 300 hours of professional training over a 12-month period, aiming to equip participants with a “holistic understanding of GEG’s hospitality culture and development prospects”, while helping them acquire practical knowledge and skills in their daily work.
In addition, the programme also provides participants with an array of professional certifications and training opportunities, helping them to gain various international accreditations in various areas to strengthen their competitive advantage and enhance their vertical mobility.
Programme participants at the ceremony, the statement said, were wearing professional uniforms and demonstrated “professional confidence” on stage and marked their careers’ new chapter.
The statement added that they also shared experiences and thanked DSAL and GEG for the opportunity, noting that the programme “helped lay a solid foundation for their future professional aspirations and growth”. Department heads and experienced team members who acted as “sifus” were also invited to provide encouragement and support to participants.
