The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday that it will launch various themed parent-child workshops from June onwards at “Cape Star” located between the Kun Iam Statue Waterfront Leisure Area and the Macau Science Centre in Nape.

An integrated area that incorporates different elements such as play areas for children, sporting activities and leisure, Cape Star has become immensely popular since it opened and provides a “great venue” for parents and children to visit during their holidays, according to the statement.

To increase its offerings and appeal, the statement noted that the bureau will launch two sessions of parent-child workshops from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. during weekends and public holidays starting this Saturday.

The statement underlined that next month’s workshops include the making of DIY eco-friendly bags, DIY hand puppets, mosaic coasterss, small solar-powered cars and handmade electric torches, among others. Moreover, festival-themed workshops making items such as a “trophy for daddy” and dragon boat collages and knitted dragon boats will also be held.

One can enrol in the workshops via one’s “Macao One Account” or in person at the Integrated Services Centre or the Public Services Centres and their IAM stations, according to the statement.

The statement underlined that enrolment is done on a first come, first served basis, with a fee of 50 patacas. The statement added that the organiser has the right to suspend a workshop in case of adverse weather conditions or if there are not enough participants, in which case alternative arrangements would be announced in due course.

Enrolment fees, the statement pointed out, will only be refunded when the workshop is cancelled for good. There will be no refunds if one is unable to participate.
