The public Macau Foundation (FM) announced in a statement yesterday that it will organise a “Collection of Pictures of My Childhood Fun” online campaign on its “Memory of Macau” official website, inviting members of the public to share their pictures of childhood fun, aiming to record the changes that Macau has undergone.
According to the statement, the collection will be conducted online, with calls for entries online, running from today to August 31.
According to the statement, the campaign welcomes photos of old toys, snacks, games, activities and places which were taken in Macau before 2010, and each person can submit up to 50 pictures.
The statement pointed out that the images will be selected based on their historical significance, content, rarity and description, and the 10 photos with the highest scores will be awarded “Memory Three Stars” with a certificate and prize of 1,500 patacas each, while the 11th to 50th placed photos will be awarded “Memory Two Stars” with a certificate and prize of 1,000 patacas each. The 51st to 200th placed photos will be awarded “Memory One Stars” with a certificate and a prize of 300 patacas each.
The images collected will be selected for inclusion in the “Macao Memory” digital collection. The collection will be followed by an online poll, with the aim of building, sharing and passing on the memories of Macau people’s childhood fun, the statement noted.
The statement underlined that childhood is an important stage in the process of one’s growing up, and the memories of childhood are something that people will keep for the rest of their lives. However, the statement said, with the rapid development of Macau’s society, traditional childhood toys have been replaced by new ones, and the footprints of childhood have become a lost landscape, which are not only treasures that will remain in the hearts of the people, but also the collective memory of the city.
