Responding to an enquiry by The Macau Post Daily yesterday about an apparent shortage of Panadol, the reportedly most popular brand of paracetamol used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain, in the local market, the Pharmaceutical Supervision and Administration Bureau (ISAF) reaffirmed in a statement that the supply of medicine containing paracetamol in Macau remains “stable”.
The statement said that the bureau continues to closely monitor the supply of anti-COVID-19 drugs and other products in Macau, adding that the Panadol range of products, including analgesic and antipyretic drugs, as well as cold and flu medicines, have been continuously imported into the local market over the past three months, and that the import volume remains “normal”.
The statement underlined that a “certain” amount of Panadol products are currently available in most local pharmacies, where this kind of medication is “generally” topped up on a regular basis.
In addition to Panadol, the statement said, there are still sufficient quantities of other brands of analgesics, antipyretics and cold medicines containing paracetamol in the local market for residents to choose from.
