Gaming resort operator MGM and the private Macau University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) have jointly pushed forward efforts towards local talent cultivation since 2021, with both having launched multiple learning activities in the first quarter of this year, benefitting over 500 hospitality and tourism students, according to a recent statement by the US company.

According to the statement, MGM again sponsored the second edition of the “Three Minute Thesis Competition” (3MT) and “Seminars by Masters from the Tourism Industry”, both organised by the FHTM.

The statement said that the contest was open to all master’s and doctoral students and had MGM Learning & Talent Management Vice President Francis Tan as a member of the judging panel, who also shared his industry expertise.

At the seminars, the statement said that MGM’s Digital Product Strategy & Data Science Executive Director Icy Lei talked about the adoption of innovative technology to create outstanding customer service.

MGM also organised hotel tours for students to its Forbes Travel Guide Five-star rated facilities and services, as well as had its MGM Catering & Events team lead the students on a tour at the annual “MGM Celebration Open House” exhibition and introduced MGM’s MICE offerings and experiences.

According to the statement, MUST’s FHTM Dean Ben K. Goh thanked MGM for its solid support of the private university’s youth development, adding that the faculty will continue to collaborate with the resort operator in promoting the high-quality development of tourism education in Macau.
