A 52-year-old local man, who “had fallen” from his flat in a residential building on Avenida do Dr Rodrigo Rodrigues, was found dead on the building’s fifth-floor platform by his family at noon yesterday, according to a statement by the Judiciary Police (PJ).

PJ spokesman Chan Wun Man said in the statement that the Judiciary Police were notified by the Public Security Police (PSP) about the dead-body-found case at 1:15 p.m. yesterday.

According to the statement, the victim surnamed Tong, who lived with his family in the flat, was found lying on the building’s fifth floor after “jumping”, according to his family, from the flat’s living room window.

No suicide note was found at the scene, the statement noted, which added that upon examination of the deceased, the injuries were consistent with “falling from a height”, but the exact cause of death had yet to be determined by a forensic examination.
