Macau recorded a total of 915 COVID-19 infections in three days from Thursday to Saturday, according to data released by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

A statement by the centre yesterday announced that 132 COVID-19 infections were recorded on Saturday, when no new COVID-19 patients were admitted to treatment facilities.

According to previous announcements by the centre, 417 COVID-19 infections were recorded on Thursday, when four new COVID-19 patients were admitted to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for treatment, while 366 infections were reported on Friday, when seven new patients were admitted to the public hospital.

Consequently, a total of 136 new COVID-19 patients were admitted to treatment facilities between May 1 and June 3.

Macau’s current and new peak of COVID-19 infections started early last month.

In April, there were only two days when Macau had new COVID-19 patients admitted to treatment facilities – two on April 25 and three on April 27.

Last month, Macau had new COVID-19 patients admitted to treatment facilities almost every day. More specifically, there were only three days when no new COVID-19 patients were hospitalised, namely May 20, 22 and 28.

A total of 125 new COVID-19 patients were admitted to treatment facilities last month, according to official figures.

Before the latest COVID-19 fatality was recorded on Tuesday last week, Macau had not recorded any COVID-19 fatalities for 116 days in a row, from February 3 to May 29.

Macau’s official COVID-19 death toll now stands at 122.
