Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Deputy Director Ricky Hoi Io Meng told the media yesterday that in addition to various local and mainland sectors more than 200 international exhibitors and over 20 exhibitors from Taiwan and Hong Kong have already signed up for the 11th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE).

Hoi made the remarks on the sidelines of an event in Largo do Pagode do Bazar.

Hoi said that the annual expo, which will take place at the end of this month at The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo, was expected to accommodate more than 900 booths for more than 400 exhibitors in the main area, covering around 23,000 square metres as in previous years.

Hoi said he believed that the upcoming expo would facilitate the recovery of Macau’s international visitor market, adding that the number of applications from foreign business partners to cooperate with Macau’s tourism companies has already exceeded the original quota of 500.

In addition to its five-day “Macao Week in Shandong•Qingdao” tourism promotional campaign slated to start on Thursday, according to Hoi, more MGTO roadshows will take place in Hong Kong and South Korea next month.

MGTO will confirm its plan for a series of roadshows in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore in the third quarter of this year, Hoi added.
