The Statistic Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin underlined in a statement yesterday that the satisfaction level of residents from Macau and Hengqin with their life in the zone is increasing, according to the findings of a survey conducted by the bureau.

According to the statement, the bureau’s “Survey on the Current Living and Employment Environment and Demand in the Cooperation Zone in 2023”, co-organised by Macau’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC), aimed to assess the intention of Macau residents to live and work in the Cooperation Zone in the next three to five years.

A total of 11,000 questionnaires were collected for the survey, of which 1,173 were collected in Macau, and compared to the 5,747 questionnaires collected in total last year, the sample size has increased significantly, which the statement said has greatly improved the accuracy and authority of the analysis.

The survey findings show that nearly 66 percent of the Cooperation Zone residents believe that transport has become more convenient since the zone’s establishment, while their satisfaction with living in the zone has increased by 30.92 percentage points compared to the 2022 survey, while their satisfaction with the employment situation and entrepreneurial environment in the zone has risen by 21.77 percentage points compared to last year, the statement noted.

The statement underlined that satisfaction with the zone’s employment situation and entrepreneurial environment has increased the most, with nearly 80 percent of the respondents expressing satisfaction with both.
