A man who “fell” from a Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on Avenida da Nave Desportiva in Taipa was certified dead yesterday after emergency treatment in the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre had failed, according to a statement by Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai.
The statement identified the victim as a “Chinese”.
The Judiciary Police were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 7:07 p.m. yesterday about the dead-body-found case.
According to the statement, the victim was found lying below the LRT footbridge at 6:33 p.m. He had sat alone on the LRT Cotai East Station’s platform, and “suddenly fell backwards” onto the road. The statement noted that no one had approached the man when he was sitting there.
Upon a preliminary examination of the body, the injuries the victim suffered were consistent with those caused by “falling from a height”, the statement said, adding that the exact cause of death still needed to be determined by a forensic examination.
Neither ID documents nor a suicide note were found on the victim, the statement noted.
