Cheang described the number as “frightening”, pointing out that on the average 40,000 discarded syringes were found in the densely populated district per annum during the seven-year period.
“The number is frightening, isn’t it?”, Cheang asked rhetorically.
Cheang, who works as a consultant to the local Bank of China (BOC) branch, said the members of the committee had urged the government to criminalise the discarding of drug-taking paraphernalia.
