The Fire Services Bureau (CB) notified the Judiciary Police (PJ) at 10:57 a.m. yesterday that the body of a 64-year-old woman living alone in a detached house on Pátio do Mestre was found by firefighters, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said in a statement.

According to the statement, the local victim’s brother told the police that when he went to the house early yesterday to see his sister, he found that the door was locked and no one answered when he knocked, so he called the police.

Firefighters entered the house through the rooftop skylight and found the victim lying on the ground floor in front of a bathroom door, and confirmed that the woman had died, the statement noted.

Neither evidence of foul play nor a suicide note were found at the scene, the statement said.

Upon a preliminary examination of the deceased, no criminal-induced injuries were found on the body, but the cause of death is pending the outcome of a forensic examination, the statement added.

The case has initially been classified as a dead body found, according to the statement.
