Macau's composite consumer price index (CPI) grew 0.90 percent year-on-year in May, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced today.
The bureau attributed the growth to rising restaurant prices, tuition fees and domestic helpers' wages, as well as higher hotel room rates and rising prices of clothing. However, the growth was partially offset by falling rents for residential units and reduced airfares.
In comparison with April, the composite CPI rose 0.14 percent in May.
For the 12 months ending last month, the average composite CPI grew 0.97 percent from the previous 12-month period.
The average composite CPI for the first five months of this year rose 0.83 percent year-on-year.
