The 11th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE), themed “MITE connects the World”, is slated to take place from this coming Friday through July 2 at Halls A and B of The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, with one of its main highlights being the City of Gastronomy Showcase, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the showcase, which is MGTO’s first post-COVID-19-pandemic large-scale international gastronomic exchange, will have 23 UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy chefs demonstrating their culinary skills, taking turns to present their culinary arts over 24 sessions for three days. Members of the public can sample different flavours from around the world.
The statement noted that the chefs will also partner with chefs from the city’s integrated resorts and hotels for exchanges in culinary arts and to present “memorable experiences of exquisite tastes” for the public.
Meanwhile, at the Gastronomy Pavilion, the statement said, 18 local catering businesses, including some that are featured on the prize winners list of iFood Award 2022 organised by a local catering association, will serve signature delicacies.
The expo will also feature its first mobile ice-cream van.
Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that MITE’s new highlight, The Cellar, will have 16 wine sellers from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau selling wine and other alcoholic beverages from Portugal, France and Italy, among others.
The statement added that bartenders from the city’s six integrated resorts will mix cocktails of “creative recipes”, while other activities include the “Introduction to Wine and Winemaking” Certificate Course and the Macau Beer Drinking Contest. Those aged 18 and above are welcome to join.
For more details and registration, visit www.mitexpo.com – “Trade visitors and general public” or sign up at the expo. On-site registration is only for the beer drinking contest, the statement said.
