Macau Pass said in a statement yesterday that it will allow residents to convert their consumption card into a general Macau Pass e-stored-value card from July 1.

According to the statement, as the 8,000-pataca subsidy, officially known as Living Subsidy, should be used up before Friday, Macau Pass offers this new service for residents to turn their old consumption card – which was used to receive the government’s subsidy – into a regular Macau Pass card, while the amount they add to the card will not be removed.

After converting a consumption card into a regular Macau Pass card, residents can use the card to consume at designated businesses, including selected supermarkets, convenience stores and the Macau Pass centres, the statement said.

According to the statement, the consumption card must have less than 950 patacas before being converted into a regular Macau Pass card, and if not transferred to a regular Macau Pass, the remaining amount on the card can be used at regular businesses but is not applicable for Macau’s parking meters, cross-border transportation, and medical and insurance services.

The amounts on the cards will remain valid until June 30 next year, the statement said, adding that residents can also choose to get a refund for their remaining amounts on their consumption card, the statement said.
