A Hong Kong man who was barred from entering Macau has been caught after he had stolen his friend’s Hong Kong ID card and used it to enter Macau through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) checkpoint, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said in a regular press conference yesterday.
The 60-year-old suspect surnamed Yue said that he works as a chef’s assistant. Lam said that Yue was banned for three years from entering Macau as he committed arson here earlier this month, when he burned public property including a plant after he had lost money in a casino.
According to Lam, when Yue attempted to enter Macau through the HZMB checkpoint at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, police officers found the ID card suspicious. Under questioning, Yue admitted to stealing a friend’s ID card in Hong Kong on Wednesday and attempted to enter Macau with the stolen document.
Yue has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) and faces a charge of using another person’s identity document, Lam said.
