A 15-year-old local girl found lying on the ground floor of the Seac Pai Van Community Complex in Coloane was certified dead at 7:06 p.m. by the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre after the treatment to save her was unsuccessful, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said in a statement last night.

According to the statement, the police were notified of the death by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) and the public hospital separately yesterday.

The statement said the police received a report from a member of the public that he or she saw a girl sitting “precariously” on the edge of the complex building’s platform at about 6:55 p.m. yesterday. The statement added that the victim “fell” to the ground before firefighters arrived at the scene.

A preliminary examination of the body showed that the victim’s injuries were consistent with “a fall from a height”, according to the statement, which noted that no other suspicious or possibly criminally caused injuries were found on the body.

The case has initially been classified as a dead body found, the statement said, adding that the exact cause of death has yet to be determined until a forensic examination.
