Time-honored brands from Zhejiang province have displayed their quality products in Macau, aiming to seek opportunities in the special administrative region (SAR) and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).

Over 130 enterprises with time-honored brands showcased more than 30,000 goods at a three-day fair that ended yesterday, alongside some 20 local businesses.

Chen Kehua, inheritor of intangible cultural heritage for making zongzi, a kind of rice dumpling traditionally made for the celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival, said that they have felt the enthusiasm of Macau’s consumers at the fair.

“We are planning to build a factory in Macau so that more local residents can taste our Jiaxing zongzi with a history of 115 years,” said Chen, who is chairman of Yuzhuangyuan, a zongzi manufacturer in Zhejiang’s Jiaxing city.

Zhang Xiaoquan, a household brand name based in Zhejiang’s provincial capital Hangzhou with a history of over four centuries, displayed their signature kitchen knives and scissors.

The company said that it hopes to open stores in Macau in the future and help export its products to PSCs markets.

The fair was organized by Zhejiang provincial authorities to promote economic and cultural exchange and cooperation between Zhejiang and Macau.

Zhejiang has 65 million inhabitants.
