Macau’s exports of casino articles rose by 740.8 percent to 300.4 million patacas year on year in the first five months of this year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.
In May, casino article exports leapt by 3,653 percent to 112.7 million patacas.
Total exports, however, fell by 16.6 percent to 5.18 billion patacas between January and last month. Re-exports accounted for 88.5 percent of all exports.
Imports dropped by 5.6 percent to 59.79 billion patacas in the first five months of the year.
Food and beverage imports – Macau’s number-one import segment – rose by 39.5 percent to 10.38 billion patacas.
Mobile phone imports dropped by 63.2 percent to 2.38 billion patacas.
Most of Macau goods were imported from the Chinese mainland (26.6 percent of the total), France (17.8 percent) and Italy (12.4 percent).
A total of 76.7 percent of Macau’s exports were shipped to Hong Kong.
