The Public Security Police (PSP) questioned a local boy suspected of sexually harassing a young girl in Flower City Park in Taipa, according to a PSP statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the police had noticed a post circulating on social media posted by an unknown user describing a young boy appearing to be around 15 years old “behaving strangely” towards a young girl appearing to be younger than ten, “with her trousers half off”.
The police were highly concerned about the case and after investigation, the statement said, they questioned the boy suspected of involvement in the case.
The statement said that the case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), with the boy facing a charge of sexual harassment of a child under the age of 14 (provided that he is aged at least 16).
The police urged the public that when witnessing or “unfortunately” experiencing sexual harassment, not to condone or tolerate it, but to tell a trusted person about it and call the police for help as soon as possible.
