Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam announced a case initially classified as a dead body found, in which a 24-year-old local woman died after “falling from a height” yesterday.

According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were notified of the death by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 8:24 a.m. yesterday, saying that a dead woman was found lying on the third-floor platform of a hotel on Estrada da Vitória.

The statement did not elaborate on whether the victim was a guest or staff member of the hotel.

The statement quoted a hotel guest as saying that he or she heard a loud noise at about 8 a.m. yesterday and saw someone lying on the third-floor platform through the window, so he or she immediately notified the hotel staff to call the police.

The statement did not identify the guest’s gender.

On the rooftop of the hotel, according to the statement, a wooden ladder was found outside the storage room, which was situated above the exact place where the victim was found, so the police believe that the victim jumped from the hotel’s rooftop.

Upon examination of the body, the injuries the victim suffered were consistent with a fall from a height, according to the statement, which noted that the exact cause of death has yet to be determined until a forensic examination is carried out.

Neither personal belongings nor a suicide note were found at the scene, the statement noted.
