Two local men have been arrested separately for drunk-driving, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Lam identified the suspect in the first case as a 34-year-old man surnamed Lei who works in a hotel human resources department.
According to Lam, on Friday at 1 a.m. when the police were conducting spot checks in Rua da Ribeira do Patane, they stopped a car and found that the driver, Lei, was reeking of alcohol. A breathalyser test showed Lei’s alcohol concentration to be 1.63 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood. Lei admitted to drinking the night before.
Lam identified the suspect in the second case as a 36-year-old man surnamed Ieong who works as a driver.
According to Lam, on Sunday at 10 p.m. when police officers were directing traffic at Macau Tower during temporary traffic control measures, a driver ignored the police instructions and entered an area that was blocked off. The police officers approached the driver, Ieong, and found that he had a strong smell of alcohol on him. A breathalyser test showed his alcohol concentration to be 2.42 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.
Under questioning, Ieong admitted to drinking in his home at 6:30 p.m. that day.
The two suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing drunk-driving charges, according to Lam.
