The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Friday that four selected proposals for the “Local Curatorial Project” as part of its “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023”, which is slated to take place this summer, have recently been announced.

The statement said that the proposals comprise “The Revelations for X” (temporary name) by MyLand Culture, “The Typhoon of Destiny” by the “ART YIIMA” art group, “Synchronicity - Topology of Mind” by Alice Kok, and “The Secret of The Golden Flower” by Chang Chan.

According to the statement, each of the proposals is slated to be transformed into four exhibitions that will be held for at least eight weeks between September and November.

The statement said that the selection of exhibition proposals was made through an open call that aimed to “uncover local curatorial talent, encourage innovation” and push the development of contemporary art forward.

A total of 28 proposals were received, themed “Art Macao 2023” – “The Statistics of Fortune”, according to the statement. A preliminary review was conducted by five experts on May 31, while a final selection was made on June 17 by six other judges comprising representatives from Macau’s six integrated resort operators, which are also co-organising the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023” in conjunction with the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
