The foot traffic during the Macau Government Tourism Office’s (MGTO) “Experience Macao Unlimited” Mega Roadshow in Times Square in the South Korean capital of Seoul reached around 280,000 over its four-day period, according to an MGTO statement yesterday.

The event was held from July 14-17, during which Macau’s travel trade representatives set up a raft of booths and games.

The statement noted that the roadshow’s design concept was themed around a board game and incorporated the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) and other “tourism+” attractions in its key visuals, while the exhibition space was themed around the “MOMA” logo or “Moment in Macao”

The statement added that Macau’s six integrated resort operators showcased their tourism facilities and new attractions through their booths, while performances and games were also held. Over 4,000 discount coupons for hotel accommodation and air tickets, among other tourism products, were presented by Macau’s travel trade, the statement said.

The roadshow was promoted through online and offline channels including major media platforms and different South Korean key opinion leaders (KOLs), the statement said, and was covered by South Korean media.

Moreover, the country’s popular travel and variety show “Talk Pawon 25 o’clock” released two episodes on Macau that engaged nearly 24 million viewers on TV, video platforms and social media, according to the statement.

The statement noted that MGTO’s official Instagram account also saw a 15 percent increase in followers from the South Korean market and over 100 percent on the KAKAO messaging app.

Meanwhile, in order to further promote Macau as a destination, advertisements were played on a loop on a large double-sided outdoor screen along the Olympic-daero, during which a traffic volume of over 2.4 million vehicles was recorded over 10 days of the advertisement, the statement said.

MGTO also led a Macau travel trade delegation and hosted the “Macao•Korea Travel Trade Networking Seminar”, where over 200 travel trade members from both destinations participated in networking and discussed business opportunities, according to the statement.
