Integrated resort operator The Venetia Macao announced in a recent statement that the “aMEI ASMR World Tour–Macao” concert, featuring “iconic Asian pop powerhouse” Chang Hui Mei better known by her stage name A-Mei, is slated to be staged at its Cotai Arena starting at 8 p.m. on September 16.
A-Mei, whose real name is Kulilay Amit, is a Taiwanese singer and record producer, hailed as the “queen of Mandopop” in the Chinese-speaking world. The statement pointed out that A-Mei, who has sold approximately 55 million albums and held more than 300 solo concerts, is the record holder for album sales, concert numbers and audience numbers of any Chinese-language female singer, thanks to her performances for more than seven million concert-goers. She has also been a highly influential figure in the Chinese-language music scene since the mid-90s.
A-Mei’s last concert at the Venetian’s Cotai Arena took place seven years ago, the statement said, adding that her “versatile vocal range and emotional depth, show-stopping” performances, “outstanding” choreography and “couture” costumes will all be “perfectly” coordinated to provide Macau fans with an “ultimate feast for the senses”, in conjunction with Cotai Arena’s “state-of-the-art” facilities.
A-Mei’s eighth solo concert tour, which started in Taipei City in April last year, set new records for the highest number of performances, the largest audience numbers and the highest-grossing concert by a solo singer in Taiwan within one year, with her 12-night and 10-night shows in Taipei and Kaohsiung respectively, the statement noted.
The tickets cost 480 patacas for D reserve, 880 patacas for C reserve, 1,180 patacas for B reserve, 1,580 patacas for A reserve, and 1,880 patacas for VIP. Online and phone ticketing started from noon yesterday via Cotai Ticketing, with all ticketing options available today, according to the statement.
