The Health Bureau’s (SSM) first Community Psychiatric Service Team has dealt with 89 cases since its formation in July, among which 11 were forced hospitalisations, according to Northern Districts Social Services Consultative Committee Deputy Convenor Ho Chong Chun.

Ho briefed reporters after the closed-door meeting at the Areia Preta District Government Service Centre. Ho Chi Veng, chief of the Psychiatry Department of the Conde de Sao Januario Hospital Centre, was invited to elaborate on the team’s service in the meeting.

According to Ho, the team comprises nine members, including a psychiatrist, a clinical nurse specialist, an occupational therapist and a clinical psychotherapist. The team has undergone three years of training and is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
