Since Friday last week, the Macau government has only announced the new weekly total number of COVID-19 infections once a week.
The Macau government had previously announced the new daily numbers of COVID-19 infections since around the middle of May.
A statement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre on Friday underlined that the Macau government has now decided to reduce the interval of announcing new numbers of COVID-19 infections after considering the latest practices in the mainland and other neighbouring regions.
According to the still available latest daily numbers of new COVID-19 infections released by the centre, Macau recorded 18 COVID-19 infections on Monday, 80 on Tuesday, and 61 on Wednesday last week.
No new COVID-19 patients were admitted to treatment facilities on Monday and Tuesday last week, while a COVID-19 patient was admitted to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre on Wednesday last week for treatment.
Friday’s statement announced that Macau recorded a total of just 316 COVID-19 infections in seven days from July 14 to 20.
A total of four new COVID-19 patients were admitted to the public hospital in the seven days for treatment.
Starting from Friday this week, according to the statement, the new weekly numbers of COVID-19 infections will only be announced on the Health Bureau (SSM)’s COVID-19 website.
Macau has not recorded any COVID-19 fatalities for 32 consecutive days, from June 19 to July 20, after the latest COVID-19 fatality was recorded on June 18.
Macau’s official COVID-19 death toll currently stands at 124.
