The annual Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (GMBPF) comprising 438 enterprises will take place in Hall A-E of the Galaxy International Convention Centre (GICC) in Cotai from tomorrow through Sunday, Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) President Vincent U U Sang announced in a press conference yesterday.
According to U, among the enterprises, 171 are from Macau, 187 from Guangdong province and 80 from countries and regions along the Belt and Road (B&R), including Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region.
U pointed out that with the growth of Guangdong enterprises participating in the fair this year, the number of exhibitors has increased by 22.3 percent from that of last year, which, he said, has returned to the pre-pandemic level.
Themed “New Venue, Market-tested Products, Unprecedented Opportunities”, the four-day fair featuring shopping, leisure and entertainment, cultural exchange and trade will focus on the Four Key Industries Area” and “Semi-Finished Food Industry Area”, among the fair’s signature exhibition areas of the “Guangdong Branded Products Area”, “The Belt and Road Area”, and “Macao Featured Products Area”.
The local four new key industries are big health, modern finance, high-tech, and conventions and exhibitions as well as culture and sport.
U said: “This year’s fair will once again have the popular theme of semi-finished food from last year, with a focus on the upper, middle, and lower streams of its industry chain”, adding he believed that the introduction of new attractions such as “robot cookers” in the fair will also empower the upgrade of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and push forward the smart technology-based growth of the industry.
In addition, the 9,000-square metre fair will also feature the first launch ceremony of new electric vehicles from beyond the mainland, in order to “enrich the fair offerings and give an all-round display of quality brands in Guangdong and Macau”, according to U, who pointed out that with the aim of also seeking new development opportunities by adopting the “one event, two places” model, a catering-themed discussion will take place today in the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
U said he expected the four-day fair to attract nearly 100,000 visitors this year.
Various activities such as creative workshops, culinary demonstrations, product promotions, forums, guided tours for trade visitors, and business matching sessions, among others, will also be organised throughout the fair.
